The DGA’s Independent Directors Committee (IDC) hosted receptions for Slamdance Film Festival filmmakers in Los Angeles on December 6, 2007 and in New York on December 12, 2007.

At the reception held in the City of Angels, Slamdance President Peter Baxter, along with Slamdance staffers Sarah Diamond, Drea Clark and Steven Zeller, President of GS Entertainment Marketing Group, gave an overview of how the festival works, and IDC member Joe Russo (You, Me and Dupree) offered his personal advice to the filmmakers.

The Big Apple’s DGA reception featured one of Slamdance's founding filmmakers, Paul Rachman (American Hardcore) who spoke about what the festival means for directors, and Director Tom Soper (Fast and Reliable).
