Director Q&As in Los Angeles & New York

During the final months of 2007, DGA members in New York and Los Angeles had the opportunity to attend member screenings followed by Q&As with the films’ directors.

On November 10, Noah Baumbach entertained the New York DGA audience with behind-the-scene stories from the making of his comedic drama Margot at the Wedding. The film tells the story of what ensues when Margot, a sharp-tongued writer, wreaks havoc at the wedding of her free-spirited sister Pauline. 2004 DGA Lifetime Achievement Award winner Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Angels in America) served as the moderator.

Julian Schnabel spoke making The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, the remarkable true story of Jean-Dominique Bauby, who uses his mind to achieve a life without boundaries, after suffering a stroke that paralyzes his entire body, except his left eye. Schnabel discussed the film with actor/director Dennis Hopper (Easy Rider) in Los Angeles on November 11, and Director Marc Levin (Little Manhattan) in New York on November 18.
