As part of its continuing outreach to independent filmmakers, on August 31, 2007, the DGA presented a cocktail reception for directors with films screening in the 34th Telluride Film Festival. The event was a tandem effort with SAGIndie, the independent filmmaking arm of the Screen Actors Guild. DGA Director-member Todd Haynes served as host.
