On Saturday, June 2, 2007, the Eastern AD/UPM Council invited members in that category to meet new friends and renew acquaintances with their fellow AD/UPMs during a special breakfast at the DGA offices in New York City.
The breakfast also featured an informative seminar entitled Filming in Our Own Backyard: How the Successful Production Team Meets the Ever-changing Challenges of Filming in New York’s Neighborhoods, with a panel of AD/UPM members: Pamela Cederquist, Chris DeAngelis, Mary Rae Thewlis, Glen Trotiner, Tom Whelan and moderator Stacey Beneville. The panel provided amusing anecdotes of their experiences in various neighborhoods including Chinatown, Greenwich Village, the Bronx, the Lower East Side, and Tribeca. They also discussed the unique challenges of filming in New York and the need for flexibility and outreach to communities in which filming is done.
