The DGA's Independent Directors Committee (IDC) hosted receptions for Slamdance Film Festival filmmakers in Los Angeles on December 6, 2006 and in New York on December 7, 2006.
The Gotham reception featured Slamdance’s Paul Rachman who gave the filmmakers a behind-the-scenes view of the festival and DGA IDC member Dan Algrant (People I Know) who spoke about the advantages he found in joining the Guild.
At the Tinseltown reception, Slamdance’s Director of Programming/ Filmmaker Relations Sarah Diamond gave an overview of how the festival works, and IDC members Gary Walkow (Crashing) and Christopher Coppola (Palmer's Pick Up) offered their personal advice to the filmmakers.
