On Monday, June 26, 2006, 140 DGA golfers and 30 DGA tennis players took part in the Tenth Annual Howard W. Koch Memorial DGA Golf Tournament, and the Third Annual DGA Tennis Tournament. Both events are fundraisers created to benefit the Directors Guild Foundation (DGF) an organization dedicated to assisting DGA members facing difficult times.
The tennis tournament took place at the Los Angeles Tennis Club, located in the heart Los Angeles’ Hancock Park district. The golf tournament—which was renamed in 2001 in honor of long time DGF Chair Howard W. Koch—and the awards reception were held right around the corner at the prestigious Wilshire Country Club.
DGA President Michael Apted thanked the players for their participation then turned the dais over to DGA Foundation Chairman John Rich who announced that due to the generosity and support of the day’s tournaments, more than $146,990 had been grossed on behalf of the Foundation.
Golf Tournament co-chair Michael Zinberg expressed thanks to all who supported the tournaments, including the Gold and Silver Sponsors, then proceeded to name the winners.
