From February 9-20, 2006 the 14th Annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF) returned to Los Angeles.

The festival celebrates cinema, art, music, spoken word, and presents screenings, panels, workshops and parties. PAFF is also the largest international Black film festival in the United States showcasing films from the United States, Africa, Canada, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. This year’s PAFF screened over 160 films, including 64 documentaries, 54 short films, and 47 feature films.

On Monday, February 13, 2006 the DGA presented “A Conversation with Reginald Hudlin” the director of House Party, Boomerang, The Ladies’ Man, and Bebe’s Kids, and President of Entertainment for Black Entertainment Television (BET). Hudlin spoke about moving up the ladder of success from independent filmmaker to corporate executive in a conversation moderated by producer Nelson George (The Chris Rock Show).

On Friday, February 17, 2006, PAFF filmmakers were invited to a breakfast in the atrium of Directors Guild headquarters where Guild members Neema Barnette (Gilmore Girls) and Millicent Shelton (The Bernie Mac Show) spoke to them about the advantages of DGA Membership.
