The DGA's Independent Directors Committees (IDC) hosted receptions for Slamdance Film Festival filmmakers in Los Angeles on December 7 and in New York on December 14.
New York Reception:
The East Coast reception featured Director Jim McKay (Our Song, Girl’s Town, Everyday People), passing on personal wisdom about surviving the festival circuit.
Los Angeles Reception:
At the West Coast reception, Slamdance’s President/Co-Founder Peter Baxter, Co-Founder-at-Large Dan Mirvish, and Director of Programming/Filmmaker Relations Sarah Diamond gave a behind-the-scenes view of the workings of the festival, and DGA IDC member Jamie Babbit, (But I'm a Cheerleader, The Quiet) offered her personal advice to filmmakers.
