The first installment entitled, “Scheduling for Your Success” featured panelists: Nicole Burke, 1st AD on the drama series 24; Scott Cameron, 1st AD and Producer/UPM Betsy Danbury of Paul Haggis’ Crash; Alan B. Curtiss, 1st AD on Sam Mendes’ Jarhead; John Wildermuth, 2nd AD on Tony Scott’s Domino; and Brian O’Kelley who has worked as Key 2nd AD, Assistant Production Manager and 1st AD on the drama series Alias. DGA Frank Capra Award-winning UPM Burt Bluestein moderated the event.
The veteran DGA UPM/ADs reviewed classic scene setups in several popular genres and divulged their own special strategies, tips, and techniques in the arena of breakdowns and scheduling. They also explained the technologies needed to help UPM/ADs bring their abilities to the next level. A free handbook was also distributed with the seminar.
