The 23rd Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival returned to the DGA in Los Angeles from July 7-18, 2005.
Outfest featured more than 200 films from two dozen countries in nine different venues, and offered outdoor screenings, family programs, provocative panels, documentaries, live performances, experimental works, celebrities and more. As a sponsor of the festival, the DGA served as a screening venue and hosted a special panel “Where’s the Action: Women Directing Action-Adventure Films,” with Karyn Kusama (Girlfight, Aeon Flux), Cassandra Nicolaou (Interviews With My Next Girlfriend, Show Me), Angela Robinson (D.E.B.S., Herbie Fully Loaded), and Katt Shea (Stripped To Kill, The Rage: Carrie 2), moderated by Jamie Babbit (The Quiet, Nip/Tuck, Gilmore Girls).
The Guild also threw a luncheon for Outfest filmmakers at Pinot Hollywood, where DGA director members Babbit, Todd Holland and Randal Kleiser spoke to the filmmakers about the protections and advantages provided by Guild membership.
