On Friday, February 18, the DGA hosted a brunch for the filmmakers of the 13th Annual Pan African Film & Arts Festival (PAFF). Dedicated to the promotion of cultural and racial tolerance and understanding through the exhibition of film, art and creative expression, PAFF's goal to present and showcase the broad spectrum of creative works by people of African descent, particularly those that reinforce positive images and help to destroy negative stereotypes.
The DGA brunch was part of the Guild's outreach efforts to the independent film community, giving non-member filmmakers an opportunity to hear about the advantages of DGA membership from DGA members. At this year's event, PAFF filmmakers had the chance to hear from DGA Board Member LeVar Burton, Alternate Board Member Carl Weathers, Director Member Mario Van Peebles as well as members of the Executive Staff and PAFF Executive Director Ayuko Babu.
