Visual History with Brooke Kennedy

Born and raised in New York City, Brooke Kennedy discovered her passion for storytelling as a child while watching classic Hollywood films and golden age of TV programs. Foregoing college, she gained her film and TV education on set, securing her first production job as a Location Coordinator on Robert Benton’s Kramer vs. Kramer (1979). Trying to find a place for herself in production, she was steered toward unit production management by Stanley Jaffe and Sherry Lansing. 

After working on several independent projects, Kennedy was hired by John Nicolella to unit production manage Miami Vice, and unit production manage and produce Crime Story. She continued her trajectory as a Producer for over a decade until Director-Producer John Wells encouraged Brooke, who was producing his show Third Watch at the time, to direct an episode on their third season. She has since directed and produced The Good Wife, BrainDead, The Bite, and The Good Fight, and directed Strange Angel and Stumptown, among others.

Kennedy has served 5 terms on the Eastern Directors Council, as well as 4 terms on the National Board, two of which were served as 2nd Vice President. In addition, Kennedy has served as a Directors Guild Foundation Trustee and has served on two Negotiation Committees.

Kennedy has been a Guild member since 1985.
