Directors Guild of America President Jack Shea and Awards Committee Chairperson Howard Storm today announced the DGA's nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television for 2000. The winners will be announced at the 53rd Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, March 10, 2001 at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
The five nominees will be invited to attend the DGA's Meet the Nominees: Movies for Television symposium to be held on Saturday, March 3, 2001 at Guild headquarters in Los Angeles.
The nominees for the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television for 2000 are (in alphabetical order):

First Assistant Director: Yudi Bennett
Second Assistant Director: Jules Kovisars
Second Second Assistant Director: Franklyn Gottbetter
DGA Trainee: Tim Price
This is Bleckner's third DGA nomination and second in the Movies for Television category. In 1983 he won the DGA Award in the Dramatic Series Night category for his direction of the "Life in the Minors" episode of Hill Street Blues. Bleckner was nominated in 1985 for the Movie for Television Do You Remember Love?.

This is Sargent's sixth DGA Award nomination. He won the Movies for Television Award in 1973 for The Marcus-Nelson Murders, and was nominated in 1992 for Miss Rose White, in 1994 for World War II: When Lions Roared, in 1997 for Miss Evers' Boys and last year for A Lesson Before Dying.
