25th Annual Directors Guild Foundation Golf Tournament

25th Annual Directors Guild Foundation Golf Tournament

June 20, 2022

124 golfers took to the links of the Wilshire Country Club on Monday, June 20 to show their generosity while having a great day at the 25th Annual Directors Guild Foundation (DGF) Golf Tournament. The event was a fundraiser created to benefit the Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting DGA members facing difficult times and due to their support, more than $60,000 was raised to benefit the DGF.

Kicking off the awards ceremony, Tournament Co-Chair/DGF Second Vice Chairman/former DGA National Executive Director Jay D. Roth thanked all the players for their participation before welcoming DGF Trustee Carl Weathers to the podium. Weathers also thanked the players and sponsors who supported the tournament, then spoke about the work of the Foundation to assist DGA members in need.

“The DGF was established over 75 years ago, by a group of Directors who wanted to help their fellow members in tough times such as when a show is canceled or a contract ends or a global pandemic hits, but the bills don’t,” said Weathers. “This is where the Foundation can help bridge the temporary situation and get the member back on his or her feet until their next job, by providing confidential and interest free loans. This tradition of generosity has made a tangible difference in the lives of hundreds of DGA members by providing millions of dollars in loans to Members in need. The importance of that work has never been more evident than it has throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The Foundation launched an Emergency Relief Fund providing grants to aid members that were impacted on so many levels by this unprecedented event. The DGF also supports the entertainment community through contributions to the Motion Picture and Television Fund and the Entertainment Community Fund and by supporting the Los Angeles and New York Health Fairs hosted by the DGA and the DGA-Producer Pension and Health Plans. And when the fairs couldn’t take place due to COVID, the Foundation launched a free flu shot voucher program for members not covered by the Health Plan. This important work by the Foundation could not continue without your support today.”

Tournament Co-Chair/DGF Assistant Secretary Michael Zinberg then announced the winners of the separate components of the Golf Tournament that included the “Closest to the Pin” and “Longest Drives Contests” and the “Putting Contest.”
