A Conversation with Director Tom Verica

On February 24, the Latino Committee’s meeting featured a conversation with Director Tom Verica.

Moderated by Director Javier Soto (The Strain: Webisodes), Verica discussed his journey as an episodic television Director as well as his recent hire as the Head of Creative Production at Shondaland, the prolific production company founded by television Writer/Producer Shonda Rhimes.

Following the moderated portion of the event, Verica also took questions from the online audience.

A member of the DGA Diversity Task Force, Verica has directed episodes of The Umbrella Academy, Station 19, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, The Mentalist, Harry's Law, Boston Legal, Ugly Betty, American Dreams, Body of Proof, No Ordinary Family, The Cleaner, Army Wives and Dirty Sexy Money. He has served as a Co-Executive Producer and Director on series such as Inventing Anna, Bridgerton For The People and Scandal, and also acted opposite Viola Davis in the hit series, How To Get Away With Murder. Verica joined the DGA in 2004 and he also currently serves on the Television Creative Rights Committee.


ABOUT THE COMMITTEE:

The Latino Committee was created as a networking group to advance career and job opportunities for Latino DGA members by improving craft skills, networking, and making Latinos better known to the Hollywood creative community. The current LC Co-Chairs are Directors Regina Ainsworth and Edward Ornelas and Second Assistant Director Alicia Zaragoza.
