Director Rashaad Ernesto Green discusses Premature

February 26, 2020 DGA Q&As in Los Angeles and New York

A budding romance faces challenges in Director Rashaad Ernesto Green’s new drama, Premature.

Set in a hot summer in Harlem, Green’s film tells the story of 17-year-old poet Ayanna (Zora Howard) who is drawn into a relationship with Isaiah (Joshua Boone), a young music producer who moved to the city just as Ayanna is about to leave for college.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on February 16, Green sat down with Director Dawn Wilkinson (Devotion), to discuss the making of Premature. He also spoke about the film in a conversation moderated by Director Laurie Collyer (Furlough) after the DGA membership screening in New York on February 26.

In addition to Premature, Green’s credits include the feature film Gun Hill Road; an episode of the mini-series Looking for Alaska; and episodes of the series Grimm, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Being Mary Jane, The Quad, Vida, Luke CageProven Innocent and The Chi. He has been a DGA member since 2013.
