WSC Titans of Titles

Title Design Titans

September 17, 2019 A DGA Women's Steering Committee Event

On September 17, the DGA’s Women's Steering Committee (WSC) hosted the panel discussion Title Design Titans prior to their regular bi-monthly meeting. Held in the Los Angeles Boardroom, the event featured a conversation with Directors/Title Designers Lisa Bolan and Karin Fong, who established their careers in the field of title design.

Following an introduction by WSC Co-Chair Maria Burton who also moderated the conversation, Bolan and Fong spoke about their careers and covered subjects such as the importance of capturing a Director’s vision via imagery in the title sequence, establishing pace and tone during the editing of an opening sequence, and the value of title design and potential iconic imagery to marketing projects. The conversation was illustrated by several title sequences selected by the panelists. Following the presentation, the floor was opened to questions from the audience.
