Director Jonathan Levine discusses Long Shot

May 11, 2019 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A presidential campaign is complicated by an unexpected romance in Director Jonathan Levine’s romantic comedy, Long Shot.

Levine’s film tells the story of Fred Flarsky (Seth Rogen), a free-spirited journalist who unexpectedly reunites with his childhood crush, Charlotte Field (Charlize Theron), who is now one of the most influential women in the world. After Fred is hired to be a speechwriter as Charlotte prepares to make a run for the Presidency, sparks fly when their chemistry leads to romance even though on the surface the two have nothing in common.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on May 11, Levine sat down with Director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland: Double Tap) to discuss the making of Long Shot.

In addition to Long Shot, Levine’s credits include the feature films Snatched, The Night Before, Warm Bodies, 50/50, The Wackness and All the Boys Love Mandy Lane; the pilots for the series I'm Dying Up Here and Rush; and episodes of the series The Screen Junkies Show and How to Make It in America. He has been a DGA member since 2009.
