Director Julian Schnabel discusses At Eternity's Gate

The inner world of Vincent van Gogh is revealed in Director Julian Schnabel’s new biographical drama, At Eternity’s Gate.

Set during the time van Gogh lived in Arles and Auvers-sur-Oise, France, Schnabel’s film is a journey inside the world and mind of the tortured artist who, despite skepticism, ridicule and illness, created some of the world's most beloved and stunning works.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on November 25, Julian Schnabel sat down with Director Mary Harron (Charlie Says) to discuss the making of At Eternity’s Gate. Schnabel had previously discussed the film in a conversation moderated by Director Lee Daniels (Star) after the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on November 3.

In addition to At Eternity’s Gate, Julian Schnabel’s credits include the feature films Miral, Before Night Falls, Basquiat and the documentary feature Berlin. He was nominated for both the DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Motion Pictures and the Oscar for Best Director for his 2008 feature The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Julian Schnabel has been a DGA member since 1995.
