A reluctant monarch must learn to navigate his reality as the new King of England in Director David Michôd’s historical drama, The King.
Michôd’s film tells the story of Prince Hal (Timothée Chalamet), who had turned his back on royal life to live among the people until the death of his tyrannical father. Now crowned King Henry V, the young ruler is forced to embrace the world he had previously tried to escape and must steer his way through palace politics, chaos and the war his father left behind.
Following the DGA membership screening in New York on October 1, Michôd sat down with Director Neil Burger (The Upside) to discuss the making of The King. Michôd also discussed the film in a conversation with Director Andrew Dominik (Blonde) following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on October 20.
In addition to The King, Michôd’s credits include the feature films Animal Kingdom, The Rover and War Machine; and an episode of the series Enlightened. Michôd has been a DGA member since 2012.
