Director Taika Waititi discusses Jojo Rabbit

A lonely German boy is forced to confront his blind devotion to the Nazi regime in Director Taika Waititi’s new satirical comedy-drama, Jojo Rabbit.

Set during the waning days of World War II, Waititi’s film tells the story of Jojo, a young boy whose only friend is an imaginary and idiotic projection of Adolf Hitler. Eager to join the Nazi party, Jojo’s world view is turned upside down when he discovers his own mother is hiding a young Jewish girl in their attic.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on October 13, Waititi sat down with Director Seth Rogen (The Interview) to discuss the making of Jojo Rabbit.Waititi also discussed the film in a conversation with Director Paul Downs Colaizzo (Brittany Runs a Marathon) following the DGA membership screening in New York on October 19.

In addition to Jojo Rabbit, Waititi’s credits include the feature films Thor: Ragnarok, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, What We Do in the Shadows and Eagle vs Shark; the pilot for the series What We Do in the Shadows; and episodes of the series The Mandalorian, The Inbetweeners and Flight of the Conchords. He has been a DGA member since 2007.
