September 21, 2018 DGA Q&As in New York and Los Angeles

A man finds varying degrees of success and failure as he seeks to reinvent his life in Director Nicole Holofcener’s new comedic drama, The Land of Steady Habits.

Holofcener’s film tells the story of Anders Hill (Ben Mendelsohn), a man who feels trapped in the wealthy enclave of Westport, Connecticut. Seeking to renew his lust for life, he quits his job in finance and leaves his wife (Edie Falco) and family, but is quickly confronted with the harsh reality of his choices.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on September 14, Holofcener sat down with Director Greg Mottola (The Dangerous Book for Boys) to discuss the making of The Land of Steady Habits. She also discussed the making of the film in a conversation moderated by Director Miguel Arteta (Beatriz at Dinner) following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on September 21.

In addition to The Land of Steady Habits, Holofcener’s credits include the feature films Enough Said, Walking and Talking, Lovely & Amazing, and Friends with Money; the movie for television I Hate That I Love You; the pilot for the series One Mississippi; and episodes of television series Orange Is the New Black, Inside Amy Schumer, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Parks and Recreation, Enlightened, Six Feet Under, and Sex and the City. She has been a DGA member since 1998.
