2018 Emmy Directing Nominees Reception

On September 12, the DGA held its annual Emmy Awards reception at Guild headquarters in Los Angeles.

“I can’t think of a more exciting time to be a part of television … especially for Directors, who are not only getting more recognition for their work, but more importantly are being given greater creative freedoms, allowing for creative risks,” said DGA President Thomas Schlamme in his welcome to the attendees. “The result is the remarkable television we’ve seen this year… none more so than the work represented by the nominees tonight. Your Guild is extremely proud of your accomplishments, and your continued dedication to raising the bar in the craft of directing.”

Schlamme then turned the floor over to Television Academy CEO and Chairman Hayma Washington, who spoke briefly about the work of the Academy before joining Schlamme and Television Academy Directors Peer Group Governors Mark Cendrowski and Michael Spiller in presenting the official 70th Annual Emmy Award Nomination Certificates to the attending nominees.
