Director Stephen Chbosky discusses Wonder

November 19, 2017 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

A boy born with facial differences attempts to fit in at a mainstream school in Director Stephen Chbosky’s new drama, Wonder.

Based on R.J. Palacio’s New York Times bestselling novel, Chbosky’s film tells the inspiring story of August "Auggie" Pullman, young boy who has spent the last few years in and out of hospitals due to his birth defect. He becomes the most unlikely of heroes when he enters the local fifth grade and his family and the community are united by his brave journey to just be treated as an ordinary kid.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on November 19, Chbosky sat down with Director Jason Reitman (The Front Runner) to discuss the making of Wonder.

In addition to Wonder, Chbosky’s credits include the feature films The Perks of Being a Wallflower and The Four Corners of Nowhere. He has been a DGA member since 2011.
