Director David Mackenzie discusses Outlaw King

November 7, 2018 A DGA Q&A in New York

The amazing true David v Goliath story of the legendary Robert the Bruce is retold in Director David Mackenzie’s new historical drama, Outlaw King.

Mackenzie’s film tells the story of the 14th Century warrior nobleman who was forced into exile by the English after being crowned King of Scotland. Outnumbered and ill-equipped to win, he rallied a band of patriots and used cunning and bravery to defeat and repel the occupying army of the tyrannical King Edward I of England and his volatile son, the Prince of Wales.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on November 7, Mackenzie sat down with Director Jeremy Saulnier (Hold the Dark) to discuss the making of Outlaw King.

In addition to Outlaw King, Mackenzie’s credits include the feature films Dirty Diamonds, The Last Great Wilderness, Young Adam, Perfect Sense, Tonight You're Mine, Starred Up and Hell or High Water. He has been a DGA member since 2014.
