Director Simon Curtis discusses Goodbye Christopher Robin

October 29, 2017 A DGA Q&A in New York

The story behind the creation of the Winnie-the-Pooh books is revealed in Director Simon Curtis’ new biographical family film, Goodbye Christopher Robin.

Curtis’ film takes a behind-the-scenes look at the life of author A.A. Milne, whose stories about his son C.R. Milne’s collection of stuffed animals formed the basis for the Winnie-the-Pooh book series that became an instant success and brought hope and comfort to postwar England.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on October 29, Curtis sat down with Director Bob Balaban (Graves) to discuss the making of Goodbye Christopher Robin.

In addition to Goodbye Christopher Robin, Curtis’ credits include the feature films Woman in Gold and My Week with Marilyn; the movies for television Born in the USA, Man and Boy and The Prince of Hearts; and episodes of the series The Practice and Tracey Takes On... Curtis has been a DGA member since 1995.
