Noah Baumbach: Mistress America

August 25, 2015 A DGA Q&A in New York

A lonely young woman finds herself drawn into the madcap schemes of her adventurous soon-to-be stepsister in Director Noah Baumbach’s new feature Mistress America.

Baumbach’s screwball comedy features Lola Kirke as Tracy, a college freshman who discovers that her dreams of a glamorous life in New York have fallen short. She is rescued from a dull existence by her soon-to-be stepsister, Brooke (Greta Gerwig), an adventurous Manhattanite who takes Tracy under her wing and entangles her in her wacky schemes.

Following the DGA membership screening in New York on August 25, Baumbach tickled the audience with behind-the-scenes tales from the set of Mistress America in a conversation with Director Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel).

In addition to Mistress America, Baumbach’s filmography includes the feature films While We're Young, Frances Ha, Margot at the Wedding, The Squid and the Whale, and Kicking and Screaming. Baumbach has been a DGA member since 2004.
