More than 425 DGA members and their dependents received free flu shots during the 2015 Health Fairs in Los Angeles and New York. Hosted by the DGA-Producer Pension and Health Plans (DGA-PPHP), the October 3 Health Fair at Guild headquarters was the third annual presentation for Los Angeles and the October 17 Health Fair in the DGA New York Theater was the first such event for members on the East Coast.
In addition to the free clinic where the DGA Foundation covered the cost of flu shots for participants not covered under the Health Plan, members were able to get detailed benefits information and have their questions answered by representatives from Express Scripts, Delta Dental and the Vision Service Plan; and attend seminars by the Actors Fund with information about state-run Health Insurance Marketplace for those not covered by the Health Plan. Members in Los Angeles were also able to get additional benefits information via presentations by the DGA-Producer Pension & Health Plans staff and representatives from UCLA Health and the Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF).
As a bonus, both fairs also offered free neck and shoulder massages and a raffle where attendees were able to win a variety of prizes including a brand new iPad mini.
