A Norse god, a big magic hammer and monsters in need of smiting are the setting for Director Alan Taylor’s fantasy action feature Thor: The Dark World.

In the follow-up to the 2011 blockbuster Thor and the even larger 2012 phenomenon The Avengers, Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World returns us to the realm of the comic book hero who is finally faced with an enemy that all the powers of Asgard cannot overcome. Thor is forced to ally himself with his wicked brother Loki to save the universe from an ancient race bent on plunging all into darkness.

After the DGA membership screening in New York on November 9, Taylor spoke about the challenges of helming the 3D feature in a conversation with Director Raymond De Felitta (Booker's Place: A Mississippi Story). In addition to Thor: The Dark World, Taylor’s other works include the feature films Palookaville and Kill the Poor; the movies for television 1% and The Wonderful Maladys; episodes of the television series Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Deadwood, The Sopranos, and Sex and the City; and the pilots for Mad Men and The Playboy Club. Taylor has been a DGA member since 1992.
