On December 6, the DGA's Los Angeles theater complex was the site of the International Documentary Association's (IDA) 29th Annual IDA Documentary Awards. The evening honors the year’s best in documentary filmmaking and the DGA is a sponsor of the event.

This year’s ceremony included the presentation of the IDA Career Achievement Award to DGA member Alex Gibney (The Armstrong Lie, We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks) and the Pare Lorentz Award ‑ which recognizes films that demonstrates exemplary filmmaking while focusing on the appropriate use of the natural environment, justice for all and the illumination of pressing social problems ‑ to DGA members Lori Silverbush and Kristi Jacobson, and producers Julie Goldman and Ryan Harrington for A Place at the Table.
