On August 9, the DGA's Documentary Series screened director Andrew Rossi's Page One: Inside the New York Times in the Guild's Los Angeles Theater.
Page One takes a behind the scenes look at the world of an American institution battling to survive the revolution in traditional news gathering and reportage. Rossi utilizes his unprecedented access and follows people like the Times’ media editor Bruce Headlam and writers like Brian Stelter, Tim Arango and David Carr. What results is an inside look at how a major newspaper operates on a daily basis while confronting new challenges such as the global implications of printing WikiLeaks' stolen government secrets to the digital competition that advocates all online news should be free.
After the screening, Rossi discussed the film with Special Projects Committee Chair Jeremy Kagan. Rossi’s other films include the documentaries Le Cirque: A Table in Heaven (2007), and Eat This New York (2004).
