2010 Outfest Film Festival

From July 8 to 18, Outfest 2010: The 28th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival presented 60 features and 87 short films from 23 countries, as well as over a dozen panels and special events in several different venues around the city. As part of the Guild's outreach efforts for independent filmmakers, the DGA served as both a venue for and sponsor of the festival and also co-presented one of the festival’s premium events.

On July 12, the Guild hosted a lunch for the filmmakers participating in this year's Outfest. Director Jamie Babbit (The Quiet) and 1st AD/Producer Bruce Cohen (Milk) spoke to the audience about the advantages to be found in Guild membership. Also in attendance were Directors Patricia Cardoso (Lies in Plain Sight) and Randal Kleiser (Love Wrecked), both of whom also addressed the audience.

The festival is organized by Outfest, the Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing, showcasing and protecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender images. It is the oldest continuously running film festival in the city.
