Directors Under Fire: The Many Faces of War

As a follow-up to the May 14, 2005 Directors Under Fire event, the DGA has been presenting a series of four special event screenings of domestic and international films about the many faces of war in our era.

The second in this series featured the documentary, Voices of Iraq, where producers Martin Kunert, Eric Manes, and Archie Drury — a Gulf War veteran — distributed 150 digital video cameras to Iraqi citizens and encouraged them to make their own movies about life after the fall of Saddam Hussein. The evening also featured Michael Tucker’s documentary Gunner Palace, an insider's look at the day-to-day experiences of the soldiers of the 2/3 Artillery, (aka "The Gunners") housed in the bombed-out pleasure palace of Uday Hussein in the most volatile section of Baghdad.
