Robert Wise's 90th Birthday Party

Speeches, toasts and laughter filled the air when more than forty friends and colleagues of DGA past-president Robert Wise gathered in the Guild Boardroom to celebrate his 90th birthday on Friday, September 10.

The intimate lunch offered an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of a living legend from many of those who know Bob well, including fellow DGA members Michael Apted, Bob Butler, Martha Coolidge, Bill Crain, Peter Deyell,Harrison Engle, Richard Fleischer, Daisy Gerber, Guy Green, Walter Hill, Arthur Hiller, Jeremy Kagan, Randal Kleiser, Delbert Mann, Paul Mazursky, Larry Mirisch, Bob Relyea, Gene Reynolds, John Rich, Barbara Roche, Mark Rydell, Richard Schickel, Steven Spielberg, Christina Stevens, Betty Thomas and Chuck Workman.

In addition to his long and distinguished career as director of classic films like West Side Story and Sound of Music, Bob served the Guild as president from 1971 to 1975, and co-founded the Special Projects Committee, which he chaired from 1976 to 2000.
