Vanity Fair and the Film Foundation

September 18, 2003

Vanity Fair and The Film Foundation announced a partnership to promote awareness and raise significant funds for film preservation at "Reel Talk," an evening that celebrated the art and history of film on September 18 at the DGA. The program was the first in a series of events in which the two organizations will collaborate to increase the visibility of film as an art form and to promote the importance of film preservation.

The evening featured an engaging discussion between two of the entertainment industry's most prolific and respected voices, Brian Grazer and Ron Howard. Moderated by Robert Rosen, dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television and chair of The Film Foundation's Archivists Advisory Council, the program explored the impact of such iconic films as Blazing Saddles, Scarface, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Bonnie and Clyde and The Graduate.

On October 7, The Film Foundation and Vanity Fair co-hosted a second "Reel Talk" discussion with Seabiscuit writer/director Gary Ross and actors Tobey Maguire and Jeff Bridges at the DGA.
