June 23, 2015

Los Angeles – Directors Guild of America National Executive Director Jay D. Roth today announced that Guild executive Sahar Moridani has been promoted to Associate Executive Director.

“As the DGA continues to grow, Sahar is a welcome addition to our senior executive team, where she has moved to the administration side of our operations with an emphasis on realizing department synergies and improving efficiency and productivity,” said Roth. “Her communications expertise will be put to good use as she focuses on improving internal and external communications, and coordination among the departments she is involved in overseeing.”

Moridani joined the DGA in 2007 as part of the Communications Department and was promoted in 2012 to Assistant Executive Director of that department before transitioning earlier this year to a newly created position working with Associate National Executive Director David Korduner. In her new capacity, Moridani has direct executive oversight over the Reports Compliance Department and its contract administration and enforcement functions, and assists Korduner with human resources matters, communications, and in overseeing the other departments that report to him.

“Sahar is uniquely positioned for this newly created role which taps into her communications, managerial and leadership skill sets; service acumen; and institutional knowledge,” added Korduner. “She will help ensure our departments and staff are poised to best serve the evolving needs of our growing membership.”

Prior to joining the Guild, Moridani held a series of senior communications roles across the public and nonprofit sectors.  She was previously the press deputy for the Mayor of Los Angeles and Director of Communications for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.  In Washington, D.C., Moridani served as special assistant to the U.S. State Department spokesman, managing the traveling press corps and coordinating international media events for the Secretary of State. Moridani began her government service in 1999 after being selected as a Presidential Management Fellow.  She received her master’s degree from the School of International Relations & Pacific Studies at UCSD and her bachelor’s degree in political science and Latin American studies from UCLA.
