If You See Something, Say Something: A Safety Seminar in New York

On January 10, the AD/UPM Council East’s Second AD Committee hosted If You See Something, Say Something, a discussion about set safety with an emphasis on shooting in New York. DGA members gathered in the Guild’s New York boardroom as Director/Stunt Coordinator Cort Hessler (Blue Bloods), UPM Donald J. Lee Jr. (Julie & Julia), 1st AD Peter S. Jackson (various commercials), Location Manager Damon Gordon (Power), IATSE 829 Safety Officer Monona Rossol, and NBC Universal VP Production Safety, Environmental, Health & Safety Paul Jordan shared their experiences with shooting on location with a focus on what members should be aware of when scouting, setting up and shooting in in New York City. They also covered other issues such as liability, stunt safety and crew responsibility in a conversation moderated by Second AD Committee Co-Chair Arianne Apicelli.


About the Committee

The Second Assistant Director Committee addresses issues that concern the members of this category and encourages dialogue amongst members in an effort to bring awareness, devise solutions to problems and continue education and growth.
