Angelina Jolie Pitt: By the Sea

November 3, 2015 A DGA Q&A in New York

A stop in an idyllic French seaside town helps rekindle a couple’s failing romance in Director Angelina Jolie Pitt’s new feature, By the Sea.

Set in the mid-1970s Jolie Pitt’s film features herself as Vanessa and Brad Pitt as Roland, a couple who find their marriage in crisis.  But after spending time with both the locals and fellow travelers during a visit to a tranquil and beach resort, they begin the work of coming to terms with their own unresolved issues.

In a conversation moderated by Director Marc Levin (Freeway: Crack in the System) following the DGA membership screening in New York on November 3, Jolie Pitt spoke about the challenges of making the film, and the unique situation posed by having to work both sides of the camera while working with her real life significant other.

In addition to By the Sea, Jolie Pitt’s filmography includes the feature films Unbroken, In the Land of Blood and Honey and the documentary A Place in Time. She joined the DGA in 2013.
