2019 Director Development Initiative Television Mentorship Program & Craft Workshop Application Period Now Closed

December 18, 2018

The DGA Director Development Initiative (DDI) 2019 Television Mentorship Program and Craft Workshop application period ran from December 18, 2018 - January 18, 2019 and is now closed.

Created for members who aspire to direct or expand their directorial career in episodic television direction, the combined programs aim to set members up for success through professional development so that they can turn new opportunities into long-term careers. The program serves as the culminating experience of the 2018 DDI programming (you can review recent events here). The Mentorship Program launches in April 2019 and the Craft Workshop will take place over three days in May 2019. Space is extremely limited, and participants will be selected through an online application process.

About the Workshop & Application

The combined programs are open to all Directors Guild of America members and are designed to provide an interactive setting in which members can be exposed to the latest technical skillsets in demand and best practices in preparation for a career in directing episodic television. Preferred Workshop candidates should have limited television directing experience, having directed no more than five (5) episodes of television series. Candidates with no episodic television directing experience are also eligible to apply. Both programs will take place in Los Angeles.

The application is hosted on the DGA’s website where you must log in to apply. You will be expected to provide the following:

  • Several short essays about your career, goals, and directing style.
  • Three (3) videos, including a compilation reel, one complete work sample, and a prepared video featuring yourself.

The application period is now closed.
