New Safety Training Requirements for AD/UPM Members Per the DGA National Commercial Agreement

Nov2016 UCE

June 6, 2018

Safety continues to be a priority for the DGA. Beginning July 1, 2017, Safety Pass Training was required for AD/UPM and AD/SM members under the 2017 Basic Agreement and Freelance Live and Tape Television Agreement. In the last round of negotiations with commercial producers, the DGA successfully negotiated to require the same safety training course for all Assistant Directors and Unit Production Managers on projects covered by the National Commercial Agreement produced anywhere in the United States.

Members who have already completed the Safety Pass Training course are exempt from these new requirements. However as of December 1, 2018, if you have yet to complete the training, the new requirements are as follows:

AD/UPM Members working in the United States:

shall have until November 30, 2018 or 90 days from their initial date of DGA-covered employment (whichever is later) to successfully complete the Safety Pass Training Course.

New Online Safety Pass Training Course:

To meet the anticipated demand, an online version of the Safety Pass Training course has been made available to coincide with these new requirements. Members who need to complete the course will receive an email with instructions on how to access the online version.
