Antonia Bird (1951-2013)

Statement by DGA President Paris Barclay: "The Directors Guild of America mourns the passing of Antonia Bird - a talented director and a valued member of our London Coordinating Committee. Our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Antonia Bird served on the DGA's London Coordinating Committee from 2009 until her passing. After starting her career in theater, she began directing television in the mid-1980s and moved to features a few years later. Among her credits are feature films Priest, Mad Love, Face, and Ravenous; movies for television and mini-series including The Men's Room, Care, Rehab and Cracker; and television series including EastEnders, Casualty, MI-5, A Passionate Woman, and most recently, The Village. At the time of her passing, she was in pre-production on feature Cross My Mind. Her work was honored with several BAFTA Awards, among others.
