August 12, 2013

DGA President Paris Barclay visited the news departments of ABC and CBS during a recent trip to New York City.

At ABC, Barclay toured network operations and local news divisions, visited the digital media center, and participated in a demonstration of new equipment.  At CBS, Barclay toured the news division and spent time on the set of CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley

While on site, Barclay met with DGA members working as directors, associate directors, stage managers and production associates in network and local news for an informal discussion about new technologies, upcoming negotiations and the state of network news.

The Guild is currently preparing for negotiations, expected to take place in the fall, on a new Network Staff Agreement covering DGA members employed in news, sports and operations.  The Network Staff Negotiations Committee is chaired by John LiBretto, Senior Director for News for NBC, director of Dateline NBC and Sixth Vice President of the DGA.  The current contract expires on June 30, 2014.
