Director Scott Z. Burns discusses The Report

November 2, 2019 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

An idealistic Senate staffer uncovers shocking secrets about a government agency in Director Scott Z. Burns’ new thriller, The Report.

Burns’ film tells the true story of Daniel Jones (Adrian Driver) who was tasked by his boss, Senator Dianne Feinstein (Annette Bening), to lead an investigation of the CIA's Detention and Interrogation Program created in the aftermath of 9/11. His relentless pursuit of the truth uncovers the lengths to which the nation's top intelligence agency went to destroy evidence, subvert the law, and hide a shocking secret from the American public.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on November 2, Scott Z. Burns sat down with Director David Mackenzie (Outlaw King), to discuss the making of The Report. He is also scheduled to speak about the film after the DGA membership screening in New York on November 13.

In addition to The Report, Burns’ credits include the movie for television Pu-239; episodes of the mini-series The View from Here and The Loudest Voice; and an episode of the series Californication. Burns has been a DGA member since 1996.
