Super Troopers 2

Director Jay Chandrasekhar discusses Super Troopers 2

May 12, 2018 A DGA Q&A in Los Angeles

It’s back to business as usual on the roads of New England in Director Jay Chandrasekhar’s new comedy, Super Troopers 2.

In the long anticipated follow-up to the 2001 cult comedy Super Troopers, Chandrasekhar’s film continues the story of Vermont Highway Patrol officers Thorny, Farva, Rabbit, Foster and Mac who were fired for their shenanigans in the first film. They get a shot at redemption when an international border dispute arises between the U.S. and Canada and the wacky officers employ their unconventional methods to set up a new Highway Patrol station in the disputed area while dealing with a smarmy mayor, mischievous Mounties, a smuggling ring and a 1,300-pound bear.

Following the DGA membership screening in Los Angeles on May 12, Chandrasekhar sat down with Director John Hamburg (Why Him?) to discuss the challenges of both directing and acting in a lead role during the making of Super Troopers 2.

In addition to Super Troopers and Super Troopers 2, Chandrasekhar’s credits include the feature films Puddle Cruiser, Club Dread, The Dukes of Hazzard, Beerfest and The Babymakers; the movies for television Held Up and Schooled; the pilots for the series The Rebels and Really; and episodes of the series Undeclared, Arrested Development, Chuck, Psych, Community, Royal Pains, The Goldbergs and New Girl. Chandrasekhar has been a DGA member since 2001.
