2nd AD Brunch 2018

Second AD Brunch 2018

June 2, 2018 A Western AD/UPM Council Event

70 Second Assistant Directors gathered in the DGA’s Los Angeles Boardroom on June 2 for The Shape of Connecting, the Western AD/UPM Council’s Second AD Committee’s twelfth annual brunch. Following the invitational message of “It’s not just about who you know… it’s about who knows you!” this year’s event explored the themes of networking and team building.

Following a brunch where the attendees were encouraged to get to know one another in a social setting, Committee Co-Chairs Joe Moore and Jaysene Overton welcomed everyone and provided a brief explanation of how the day would proceed. The Co-Chairs then discussed how to get involved with the Committee and invited former Second AD Committee Co-Chair Grant Engle to speak about the work of the Proposals Committee for the upcoming negotiations period.

The attendees then separated into breakout groups moderated by 2nd ADs Curt Bergman, Stephenie Galvan, Joe Moore, Alejandro Mora, Jaysene Overton, Pamela Altieri-Paterra, Tristan Ringenoldus, Carrie Rudolf, Allison Rushton, John Sharkey, Redelia Shaw and Alicia Zaragoza. The groups explored subjects including relationship building in the industry, tips on how to position yourself to be hired, the best practices for expanding your network and how to find people with whom you don’t mind spending 16-hour days. Afterwards, all the attendees reconvened in the boardroom to discuss their findings.
