LOS ANGELES, CA: The winners of the 2007 Directors Guild of America Outstanding Directorial Achievement Awards and the recipients of the Guild's 2008 Career Achievement Awards were announced tonight during the 60th Annual DGA Awards Dinner at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. Joel Coen & Ethan Coen won the DGA's Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film for No Country for Old Men.
Following the welcome from DGA President Michael Apted to an audience of more than 1,500 guests, Actor/Director/Comedian Carl Reiner hosted the Awards ceremony for the twenty-first time. Presenters included: Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men), DGA Secretary-Treasurer Gil Cates, Kristin Chenoweth and Chi McBride (Pushing Daisies), Marion Cotillard* (La Vie En Rose), Daniel Day-Lewis* (There Will Be Blood), Adrian Grenier (Entourage), Emile Hirsch and Hal Holbrook* (Into the Wild), Helen Hunt (Then She Found Me), Katheleen Kennedy and Jon Kilik (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly), John Larroquette (Boston Legal), Debra Messing (The Starter Wife), Ellen Page* (Juno), Anna Paquin (Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee), Amy Ryan* (Gone Baby Gone),Tilda Swinton* and Tom Wilkinson* (Michael Clayton), Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty), and 2006 DGA Feature Film Award-winner/DGA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Martin Scorsese. The DGA's Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film has traditionally served as a near-perfect barometer for the Academy Award for Best Director. Only six times since the DGA Award's inception in 1949 has the winner not gone on to receive the Academy Award for Best Director. (see list at the end of this release).

LOS ANGELES, CA: DGA President Michael Apted announced today that Carl Reiner will return as host for the 60 th Annual Directors Guild of America Awards. This year will mark the 21 st time Reiner has hosted the DGA Awards, which will take place on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles.
Also announced were the slate of presenters for the DGA Awards.

LOS ANGELES, CA: Directors Guild of America President Michael Apted today announced the DGA's nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Television, Documentaries and Commercials for the year 2007.
"We always have so much to celebrate when we announce the DGA nominees for directorial achievement in television (movies for television, dramatic series, comedy series, musical variety, reality programs, daytime serials and children's programs), documentaries and commercials," said Apted. "Each genre requires unique talent and vision, and our 45 nominees in these nine categories this year have more than met the challenge with incredibly creative and compelling projects that run the gamut from seconds to hours, from live events to years in the making. I congratulate all of them on their fine work."

Los Angeles, CA DGA President Michael Apted and DGA Awards Chair Howard Storm today announced the recipients of two special DGA Awards recognizing lifetime career achievement and extraordinary contributions to the Guild.
Liz Ryan will receive the 2008 Frank Capra Achievement Award, which is given to an Assistant Director or Unit Production Manager in recognition of career achievement in the industry and service to the Directors Guild of America.
Barbara J. Roche will receive the 2008 Franklin J. Schaffner Achievement Award for an Associate Director or Stage Manager in recognition of career achievement in the industry and service to the Directors Guild of America.
“The DGA’s special awards epitomize the distinguished work and dedicated service to the Guild that we prize so highly among our members,” said Apted. “It is our honor to recognize this year’s special award winners for the dedication they have shown in their careers and in their service as members of the DGA.”
Both awards will be presented at the 60th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, CA Directors Guild of America President Michael Apted today announced that the Guild’s long-time National Executive Director, Jay D. Roth, will be honored with the DGA Honorary Life Member Award at the Guild’s 60th Annual DGA Awards on January 26, 2008.
“Jay is a true industry leader, admired and trusted by all sides,” said DGA President Michael Apted. “His skill, his intelligence, his energy and his real love of the DGA and what it stands for are priceless assets to our Guild and the entertainment industry. He’s a remarkable man with a brilliant mind and great insight. If there’s anyone who can find himself in a labyrinth, pick his way through and come out the other side it’s Jay.”
The DGA Honorary Life Member Award is given in recognition of outstanding creative achievement, contribution to the DGA or the profession of directing. Roth is being honored for his exceptional leadership in the entertainment industry for the past 25 years, exemplified by his outstanding stewardship of the Directors Guild of America for 12 years as National Executive Director. Roth, the Guild’s second-longest serving National Executive Director, came to the DGA in 1995 after a career practicing labor law in the entertainment industry as Managing Partner of Taylor, Roth, Bush & Geffner where he specialized in representing entertainment Guilds, labor organizations and pension, health and welfare funds.
