The DGA African American Steering Committee presents:
Took Place: Thursday, May 13, 2004
7:30 PM - DGA Theatre 1

The Directors Guild of America and its African-American Steering Committee invite you to attend A Tribute to Dr. Maya Angelou: Master Storyteller to celebrate Dr. Angelou's formidable talents and ground-breaking work as one of the great voices of contemporary storytelling.

Dr. Angelou is a director, poet, educator, historian, best-selling author, actress, playwright, civil-rights activist, and producer. She captivates her audiences lyrically with vigor, fire and perception, coupled with the unique ability to shatter the prisms of race and class between reader and subject throughout her books of poetry and her autobiographies. Among numerous awards and accolades, Dr. Angelou was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize award and was the 1993 Inaugural Poet.

This promises to be a very special evening featuring surprise guests who have worked with Dr. Angelou both in front and behind the camera and others who have been influenced by her work..
