On February 26, DGA Special Projects presented a Special Events Screening of Jeremy Kagan's latest film Crown Heights as well as Kagan's documentary short Increase the Peace which was shot in mini-DV. Crown Heights is based on the tragic 1991 riots in Brooklyn and examines the successes and failures of attempts at conflict resolution by two community youth leaders played by Mario Van Peebles and Howie Mandel. Following the screening, Kagan was joined by producer and DGA member Brian Frankish and actors Van Peebles and Mandel for a discussion of the making of the film.
