After months of construction, the DGA is proudly introducing its newly renovated New York/Eastern Region Headquarters Building and Theatre Facilities. "The New York renovations demonstrate our commitment to providing members the highest quality theatre environment to view their work and that of their peers, as well as a comfortable venue for Guild and community events," DGA President Michael Apted explained. "On account of the extensive upgrades, the New York Theatre has earned the designation of the premier showcase for films in Manhattan."
In recent months, both the New York DGA Building and the New York Theatre have undergone numerous aesthetic and technical improvements. The building upgrades include a stone tile floor, herculite glass doors, refurbished elevator control system and cabs, upgraded electrical distribution equipment and new air conditioning and heating systems. The theatre improvements include a significantly larger theatre screen, installation of main title curtains, moveable masking system, new acoustical drapery system along the perimeter of the theatre, a new speaker wall with a three-way digital speaker system, and a stage-lighting system.
According to Ed Sherin, DGA National Vice President, "The vast improvements have given the DGA a first-class facility members can be proud of and one that will better serve our Eastern Region membership." |
