Filmmakers Robert Altman and Curtis Hanson, commercial director Joe Pytka, U.S. Senator Olympia Snowe, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney and the USC School of Cinema-Television will be among those honored at the Fourth Annual Directors Guild of America Honors, a black-tie gala to be held at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003.
Honors celebrates individuals, institutions and organizations that have made distinguished contributions to our nation's culture in support of filmmaking and television.
In addition to DGA members, top entertainment industry professionals, union, government and business leadership from across the nation are expected to attend.
"DGA Honors has earned a unique place in the television and film community as one of the most exciting events in the performing arts calendar," DGA President Michael Apted said. "This year's honorees are an extraordinary example of the unparalleled creativity, skill and leadership in our industry."
"Directors Guild of America Honors is proud to recognize the outstanding contributions of the DGA honorees to American culture through television and film," said DGA National Vice President Ed Sherin. "They have distinguished themselves in their respective fields of endeavor, and we honor their remarkable talents."
